Launch your portal
Your portal is a public Q&A site where your customers ask questions and your team answers them. It takes about five minutes to get from signup to a shareable link.
The dashboard is the owner’s config console — sign-in, team, analytics, and settings. Everything about your actual content (categories, tags, moderation) lives on the portal itself, where your whole team (owner, admins, and agents) works alongside your customers.
1. Create your forum
Section titled “1. Create your forum”Go to the dashboard and sign up with your work email. There are no passwords — you’ll get an email with a sign-in link and a 6-digit code. Click the link, or enter the code — either signs you in.
A couple of things worth knowing up front:
- Signing up is a one-time $9 payment (₹999 if you’re paying in INR, GST added at checkout), not a subscription: it’s a small identity check that keeps the platform spam-free, and your forum is yours to keep afterward.
- One identity can own or staff several forums. Sign in once and your dashboard lists every forum you’re part of; spin up another any time from the dashboard, no separate account or email needed.
- Signing up creates you as the owner of the forum, with full access to billing and settings. You can invite teammates later as admins, agents, or a finance seat (see Invite team members).
- The whole team signs into the dashboard. Sign-in just asks for an email, there’s no forum field to fill in, because one email is one identity that can span several forums. After signing in you land on a list of the forums you belong to (or straight into it when there’s just one). What you see in each depends on your role, and day-to-day answering and moderation happen right on the portal.
2. Pick a forum URL
Section titled “2. Pick a forum URL”Every forum gets an address on our shared domain, like
acme.example-portal.com, included with the one-time Basic signup. Choose a short,
recognizable subdomain — customers will see it and may type it from memory, so pick
something close to your company name.
You can connect your own custom domain later on the paid plan; your subdomain always keeps working even after you do.
3. Add your first categories
Section titled “3. Add your first categories”Categories organize your questions — think “Billing,” “Getting started,” “Troubleshooting,” or whatever matches how your customers think about your product.
Categories are created on the portal, not the dashboard: sign in to your portal and open Categories & tags from the header (visible to owners and admins):
- Open Categories & tags.
- Under Categories, add a name and click Add category.
- Repeat for two or three starter categories. You can always add, rename, or delete them later.
Don’t overthink this step. Three broad categories are plenty to start; you can split them into more specific ones once you see what customers actually ask.
For private, team-only categories, see Organize with categories & tags.
4. Share your portal URL
Section titled “4. Share your portal URL”Your portal is live as soon as you create it — there’s no separate “publish” step. Share the URL wherever your customers already look for help:
- Your product’s footer or help menu
- Support email signatures
- Your existing help center or knowledge base, as a link out
Customers don’t need an account to browse and read questions. They’ll only be asked to sign in (also via magic link — no passwords for them either) when they want to ask a question or vote.
